Students of Atılım University School of Fine Arts Design and Architecture Departments of Fashion and Textile Design and Graphic Design added vibrant color to our May 19 celebrations with their designs.
With a fashion show, choreographed by Burak Özdemir, taking place on Day One, the two-day event was organized within the scope of the 3rd GençFest Youth Festival on the occasion of May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, at the Arcadium Shopping Mall.
15 models from Joker Ajans, one of the pioneering modelling agencies of Ankara, walked the runway with 33 designs by students of Atılım University School of Fine Arts Design and Architecture Department of Fashion and Textile Design, under the “Modada 19 Mayıs Esintileri” (May 19 Vibes in Fashion) fashion show.
After the fashion show that garnered quite the interest, Head of Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serdar Egemen Nadasbaş stated: “I would like to thank everyone contributing and taking part in this event, on this special day that we celebrate the youth as the architects of our future as we commemorate our great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Yet, I believe that a lot of the credit should be given to our students representing us and the youth perfectly with their endeavors on such a significant day.” In addition to the fashion show, our Department of Fashion and Textile Design held the Waste-Material Jewelry Design and Tote Bag Design Workshop.
The printing workshop was on Day Two, and organized by our Department of Graphic Design. The audience got to screen-print the art designed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Evren Tural, Head of Department of Graphic Design, commemorating May 19, 1919, on t-shirts and tote bags, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Doğu Gündoğdu. Among the organizers were Department of Graphic Design students Barış Ferhat and Arda Başaran.
We congratulate our academics and our students for contributing to the event with their designs and guidance.
