School’s Out for Our Graduates of the Year 2020-2021
02.08.2021
Atılım University was a hub for enthusiasm at the Graduation Ceremony for our Graduates of the Academic Year of 2020-2021.
Just like the previous year, this year’s graduation ceremonies saw intense measures against the pandemic. The ceremonies were held with a limited number of guests and in five sessions in total over three days, in an effort to maintain social distance.
The ceremony on Day One was for the graduates of the School of Business, while the graduates of the Schools of Arts and Sciences, Fine Arts Design and Architecture, and Law; as well as the Vocational Graduate School of Justice, celebrated on Day Two. There were two separate ceremonies on the final day for graduates of the School of Engineering, and the Graduate School of Civil Aviation.
Following the inaugurations with a moment of silence and our National Anthem; our University President Prof. Dr. Yıldırım Üçtuğ addressed the graduates in his speeches. His message was: “You are graduating with the pride of holding degrees from a university that ranks among the top thousand worldwide; and the university with the most accredited programs among charity universities. Currently; we hold national and international accreditations for 8 programs under our School of Engineering, 4 programs under our School of Arts and Sciences, and one program each for our Schools of Fine Arts Design and Architecture, and Business. Graduates of these programs are able to work in the EU, or in Anglo-Saxon countries, as engineers. In addition; you will be one step ahead of the graduates of other universities in Turkey, since you are graduating from a university that has implemented the hybrid education system during the pandemic, while holding face-to-face exams. This year, we added a statement that documents as such to your diploma covers. We have been through a lot, but now, you are graduating with a multitude of advantages under your name.” His message was:
“Dear graduates,
“You will wake up to a whole new world tomorrow. You may have to work harder than you did while you were with us, and develop yourselves. Yet, please remember that our country needs intellectuals from strong backgrounds, people like yourselves. Your boat may sometimes rock in Turkey, but I believe that you will stay determined. In fact, we do not have the luxury to lose our determination; because, a century ago, our society proved to be capable of pushing through any catastrophe, and that alone proves our resilience. The road to modernity, as paved by our great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, lies ahead. It is my request of you that you read his words, understand him, and follow him, whenever you feel trapped. Let Atatürk guide you throughout your life.
“I hope that you hold onto your gleam throughout your life, and wish you a lifetime of health, happiness, and success.”
In the Year of 2020-2021 we also witnessed a situation of interest with three of our students ranking third, four students ranking second, and three students ranking first among our graduates to make the High Honors list.
