Message from Accountable Manager
Asst. Prof. Dr. Altan ÖZKİL
Dear Students and Dear Candidates,
Nowadays while Civil Aviation is spreading out with a great speed, you have either taken or you are about to take a step for reaching a gold bracelet. First of all, I congratulate you on your foresight. If someone or something, either passenger or freight will be transported from one point to another, you should know that you will be also needed. You may see a land vehicle that has not been periodically maintained, but if the vehicle is an air vehicle, you will never have a possibility to do so. Air vehicles will require periodic maintenance as they are used, and sometimes repairs as they malfunctioned. These maintenance and repairs can only be carried out by technicians authorized by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation.
Atılım University Civil Aviation School, which is one of the closest followers of the vision as "The Future is in the sky" that has been pointed out by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk the veteran and the founder of our Republic, has also been adding the progresses to each other in this way and plays an important role in Turkey's aviation culture. Our university, which has been educating students in Airframe and Power Plant Maintenance and Electrical and Electronic Systems Maintenance departments since its establishment, has been accredited as SHY-147 Approved Basic Maintenance Training Organization as of 31 May 2019 by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation. This means that the trainings to be given to the personnel who will receive aircraft maintenance technician license and the procedures and principles to be followed regarding the evaluation of the trainings have been determined and standardized.
SHY-147 certificate gives very important privileges to its institution and technicians who will graduate from this institution. The most important one of these privileges is the shortening of the “basic experience” period determined by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation. For turbine engine aircraft (for certificate type B1.1) this period has been reduced from 5 years to 2 years. Likewise, for Aircraft Electrical and Electronics (B2 type certificate), this period is similarly reduced from 5 years to 2 years. For graduates of Piston Engine Aircraft Airframe and Power Plant Maintenance Department (B1.2 license), the shortening of this period decreases from 3 to 1 year. I would like to remind that Atılım University is one of the organizations which their total number are 9 in Turkey as of today and we are the only foundation university in Turkey having all three certificate at the same time. There is another issue, that is undoubtly language. The main language of aviation is English. Among the other universities the only educational institution which its educational language in all the curriculums is 100% English, is Atılım University.
I promise to prepare our brothers and sisters for the sector, who are devoted to aviation in the best way, I expect to see ones with us, those will devote themselves to aviation and I offer my love and respects.
