CRITERIA FOR HIGH-HONOR / HONOR STUDENTS (Updated as per Senate Resolution dated May 29, 2024, no. 6)

PRELIMINARY CONDITION

  • Having been subjected to no disciplinary actions.

EVALUATION FOR ALL PROGRAMS (Except the School of Medicine)

  • A CGPA equal to or greater than 2.00
  • A GPA equal to or greater than 3.00
    • GPA: 3.00 - 3.49 Honor Student
    • GPA: 3.50 - 4.00 High Honor Student
  • For students whose total value of the ECTS credits taken in a semester are equal to, or exceeds, the ECTS credits required for that particular semester as per the Curriculum; the GPA value is as seen on transcripts.
  • The Curriculum Semester ECTS value for Cooperative Education Students is the Total ECTS value in the Cooperative Education Curriculum of their program (excluding internship studies), and is equal to the value in the Grade Point Average (GPA) transcripts for the semester in question.
  • Students with a total ECTS value during the semester of between 5.0 - 29.5 will also be evaluated, although this value is lower than the ECTS value for the Curriculum Semester. However, for such students, the Semester Grade Point Average (GPA) is not the value on their transcripts. This value is instead calculated using the formula below.

If the student is in a Double Major Program (DMP):

  • The total ECTS credits for a semester for both the student MAJOR and the DMP are taken into account.
  • Students having achieved a total ECTS credit value of 48 for both programs receive a certificate on the basis of whichever program (either their MAJOR or DMP) that suits the general criteria, and if the ECTS credits for the program in question is equal to, or greater than, 18.         

If the student is in a Minor Program (MP):

  • The GPA for the MAJOR for the relevant semester is taken into account.
  • The total ECTS value for the relevant semester for both their MAJOR and their MP is taken into account.
  • Students with a total ECTS credit value of 30 and above receive their certificate for their MAJOR program, granted that they meet the general conditions.

FOR THE PREPARATORY COURSE OF THE GSFL

  • The APEX exam in September and at the end of the Summer School will not be taken into consideration.
  • The Department of Basic English under GSFL holds separate evaluation procedures for both Fall and Spring, in each Academic Year.
  • Awards for the previous academic year are issued every Fall.
  • Among the students of Atılım University Graduate School of foreign Languages Department of Basic English, students having pursued at least two quarter-years of education gain eligibility for a place in the High Honor Students list of the graduate school, on the condition that their GPA for the relevant semesters is 90 and above (graduating with an average of 75 and above as per GSFL Regulations) and their APEX score is 85 and above.
  • Among the students of Atılım University Graduate School of foreign Languages Department of Basic English, students having pursued at least two quarter-years of education gain eligibility for a place in the Honor Students list of the graduate school, on the condition that their GPA for the relevant semesters is between 85-89 (graduating with an average of 75 and above as per GSFL Regulations) and their APEX score is between 80-84.

FOR THE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

  • Evaluations cover a Medical Term that corresponds an academic year, instead of separate evaluations for Fall and Spring.
  • Awards for the previous Medical Term are issued every Fall; as per the following conditions.
    • A CGPA equal to or greater than 2.00
    • A Medical Term GPA equal to or greater than 3.00
      • 3.00 - 3.49 Honor Student
      • 3.50 - 4.00 High Honor Student
  • The total ECTS credits are required to be 60 and above for the Term subject to evaluation.
  • Students with a total number of ECTS credits earned in a semester between 20.0 and 59.5 are also evaluated, although their value remains lower than the ECTS credits required for that Curriculum Semester. However, for students with an ECTS credit value lower than 60 for a particular term, the Medical Semester Grade Point Average (MGPA) is not the value shown on their transcripts. This value is calculated using the formula below.
