As part of the cooperation protocol signed between Atılım University and the Autism Foundation, the Directorate of Cultural and Social Affairs organized the event titled “Learning Together to Understand Autism.” The event was held on Wednesday, March 5, at 14:00 at Kemal Zaim Conference Hall, Atılım University, with the aim to raise awareness about autism.

The event began with a piano concert by Buğra Çankır, a pianist with autism, titled “Dreams Have No Barriers.” Overcoming challenges through his music, the pianist provided attendees with an enjoyable experience and received great admiration for his talent. Following the concert, Aydın Çayan, the Chairperson of the Executive Board of the Autism Foundation, delivered a speech sharing significant insights on autism and awareness.

Additionally, Nergiz Nida, the Director of the Special Education Institution under the Autism Foundation, provided information about the lives of individuals with autism, offering participants a broader perspective on the condition. She discussed the faced by individuals with autism, and the steps needed to foster better understanding in society.

Later in the event, Engin Arslan, the Facility Director and the Coordinator for Sports Education under the Autism Foundation, gave a presentation on activities and sports programs that support the social integration of individuals with autism. The role of sports in the development of individuals with autism was emphasized, and ongoing initiatives in this area were presented.

The event continued with a Q&A session, where participants’ questions were addressed, before a group photo session to close the event, with their Tema Foundation Certificates presented to the guests. Officials from Atılım University and the Autism Foundation stated that similar events will continue in the future as they reaffirmed their commitment to raising awareness about autism.
