Course Objectives Course aims to deal with gender equality as one of the main concept leading to human civilization of our times. Schedule of course will include differing definitions of gender equality perspectives and argumentations, in terms of internationally accredited norms written in signed conventions, political decisions and international court verdicts. Schedule will also include historical development and current state of national regulations, implementations that are dealing with gender equality in Turkey that needs to be synchronized with basic international norms and standards. Second part of the course will be concentrated on policies advised, implemented and considered as successful by different international, national or local actors of gender equality politics. The last part of the course will be planned as students presentations in the class considering actual discussions related to gender equality issues such as violence against women, level of participation to decision making at national or local level, etc
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • At the end of this course, the student will be able to acknowledge gender equality norms defined by international conventions, decisions, resolutions or court verdicts that stand behind democratic values of modern World.
  • The student can also learn about how implementations and policy planning regarding gender equality were designed by successful political actors all over the World.
Course Content The course content will be useful for Judge, public prosecutor, defendant, defense attorney, private prosecutor and intervener to become more qualified when they face with gender discriminations, gender based violence or gender prejudice and inequalities embedded within codes, criminal procedures, trial procedures, appeals and court verdict studied in this course.
