Course Objectives This course is designed to trace the main trends, movements and developments in modern British poetry within the historical, cultural and literary context by focusing on the selected poems and essays of major poets. The course also explores the impact of foreign influences and movements on British poetry, and studies, in some detail, the significance of the various responses and reactions to these influences.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • have gained advanced knowledge of the main trends and developments in modern British Poetry
  • have developed their awareness and understanding of the complex relation between modern British Poetry and its contexts
  • have improved their ability to do a detailed and informed analysis of poems
