Course Objectives The objective of this course is to teach the students the statics of particles and rigid bodies. At the end of this course, the students will have the ability to analyze simple mechanical structures in static equilibrium under different loading conditions.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
Course Content General principles of mechanics and vectors. Force vectors. Equilibrium of a particle: 2 and 3 dimensional problems. Force system resultants. Equilibrium of rigid bodies: 2 and 3 dimensional problems. Analysis of trusses and frames: Internal forces. Shear and moment diagrams. Friction. Center of gravity and moments of inertia. Virtual work principle.
