Course Objectives The course seeks to introduce students of the significant theoretical issues on culture and translation. Its aim is to provide an overall information about communication across cultures, nations and translation. The cultural challenges in translation process are also underlined during the course. The students are provided with various approaches to the fields of translation and intercultural studies and they are expected to engage with a particular approach when preparing their translation assignments.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Will have knowledge of the theoretical aspects of the phenomenon of culture
  • Will develop a critical outlook to culture, language and intercultural communication.
  • Will compare and contrast the views of different contemporary theorists on culture and translation
  • Will solve discourse problems systematically and offer solutions by writing/speaking
  • Will raise awareness in the importance of translator as a cultural mediator
