Course Objectives | The main objective of this course is to help students develop advanced language, textual analysis and translation skills through the translation of literary texts. The course focuses on the translation of passages from selected original literary texts in English. These texts are examined with regard to form, content and style for translation purposes. The course also enables students acquire basic knowledge in the field of literary translation methods. In this respect, study of published translations of literary texts is a part of the course. |

Course Content | Translation into Turkish of passages from selected original literary texts in English, especially short stories and novels; study of literary texts with regard to linguistic features and literary elements for translation purposes; reading, study and discussion of articles on translation methodology and published translations of literary texts. |
