Course Objectives The main objective of this course is to learn how main principles of economics can play a role in the formulation of legal rules and in the analysis, interpretation and evaluation of existing rules.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Explains the fundamental concepts and principles, formation and development of the doctrine of "Economic Analysis of Law".
  • Recognizes the fundamental principles of economics that can be used in the interpretation and evaluation of legal rules.
  • Defines fundamental concepts such as social welfare and efficiency.
  • Explains certain provisions of tort law in relation to fundamental economic principles.
  • Explains certain provisions of contract law in relation to fundamental economic principles.
  • States different views on the extent to which states should intervene in the functioning of the free market.
  • Demonstrates how the fundamental principles of economics can be applied in different branches of law by making a presentation.
Course Content Explaining the main aims and principles of the doctrine of economic analysis of law, its emergence and development, and the role that the fundamental principles of economics can play in the establishment of legal rules and in the examination, interpretation and evaluation of existing rules.
