Course Objectives The course will cover the definition of globalization, its ideological and philosophical background, and different approaches to this phenomenon. The transformation of the nation-state understanding and its connection with globalization will be emphasized. At the same time, different dimensions of globalization will be examined and the nation-state model will be analyzed in the globalization process. As an example of globalization, the experience of the European Union and its relationship with democratization will be examined. Turkey's democratization process and EU membership process will be discussed together and the effects of EU conditionality on democratization will be discussed. Turkey's public order and its interaction with policy-making processes, including the reflections of globalization on public administration approaches, will be examined.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Recognize the different dimensions of globalization and recognize global politics in a holistic approach
  • Understand the European Union integration, which is accepted as a laboratory of globalization, and interpret the impact of globalization on democracy.

1 Students can learn the basic concepts, theories and methods of political science and public administration and use them in the analysis of national and global political developments and cause-effect relationships.
2 It enables one to understand how policies are created and implemented in real life at the local, national, regional and/or global level, to recognize the important institutions and actors that play a role in these processes, and to know the functioning of public administration. X
3 It provides a basic level of knowledge about other fields related to political science and public administration disciplines (such as international relations, sociology, psychology, cultural studies, economics, law, history, etc.) and thus provides an interdisciplinary understanding that takes into account the relationships between different areas of life and establishes connections. 4 Learning the use of quantitative and/or qualitative research techniques that can be used in the field of political science and public administration, software, hardware and/or technical tools that can be useful; gaining experience in designing and executing research projects to develop their application skills in this field.

8 The aim of the course is to master the English terminology in the disciplines of political science and public administration and to gain foreign language knowledge at a level to follow the studies written in English, so that current political developments and events in various countries can be analysed comparatively.
9 To know the political history of both Turkey and the world in terms of periods, important turning points and actors, to comprehend the impact of the social-historical backgrounds of countries on current political and administrative issues.
