Course Objectives KAM 318 Political Psychology elective course examines the behavior of the people, which started to have a great importance as a political actor as a result of the democratization tendencies since the 18th century, and its relationship with the government. It takes into account the classical texts that examine the fascist/totalitarian ideologies and regimes, especially in the years of World War II, through mass psychology. In this context, students will study the texts of important thinkers and psychoanalysts such as Gustave Le Bon, Sigmund Freud, Erich Fromm, Hannah Arendt.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Understands the theoretical approaches of the discipline of political science
  • Understands psychological theories that provide better grounding for debates within the discipline of political science.
Course Content Identities; group behaviour; cults of leadership; voting behaviour; impacts of the media; ethnic conflicts; nationalism; social movements.

8 The aim of the course is to master the English terminology in the disciplines of political science and public administration and to gain foreign language knowledge at a level to follow the studies written in English, so that current political developments and events in various countries can be analysed comparatively.
9 To know the political history of both Turkey and the world in terms of periods, important turning points and actors, to comprehend the impact of the social-historical backgrounds of countries on current political and administrative issues.
