Course Objectives The course aims to narrate the development of art and architecture, exploring cultural interactions and distinctions within historical contexts. The objective is to examine productions of art and architecture across diverse geographies over time and distinguish their characteristics in different periods. The goal is to survey works of art and architecture considering historical conditions, use of materials and types of equipment, construction principles, and functional aspects. It aims to establish connections between art, architecture, and design processes by understanding and questioning the productions of diverse cultures throughout history.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Gain the ability to recognize the works of art and architecture belonging to different civilizations in the historical process.
  • Comprehend the characteristics of architecture and works of art belonging to different periods and geographies.
  • Compare similar and differentiating features of the works from different civilizations in the historical process.
  • Gain the ability to use terminology related to the history of art and architecture.
  • Establish a relationship between art, architecture, and design by observing the works produced in the past.
Course Content This course examines significant examples of architecture and artwork from various regions throughout history. It takes a chronological ap-proach to discuss and convey the characteristics of works from the Anatolian Seljuk Period up to the end of the 18th century. The course emphasizes the interactions between different periods and cultures while highlighting the unique features of each work.
