Course Objectives Architectural design competions are important for instigating original and qualified architectural design ideas for the physical environment, evaluated and chosen by selected jury members. Qualified competitions are organized also for architectural students who will enter such idea competitions, which have an important role in the development of contemporary new ideas in architecture, in their future careers as architects. The aim of the course is to have the students gain experience in such an important activity of the profession by creating an academic context for qualified competitions.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • - Gains experience in a competition based architectural design process, as different from the academic studio project work; - Develops a project by independently appraising the given conditions of the competition, including the requirements for presentation; - Comprehends by direct experience the significance of the skill of using the time required for finalising the project. Gains experience in cooperating with others as a team.
Course Content Participation of architectural students, individually or as a team, in qualified national or international architectural competitions opened by external institutions as approved by the Departmental Council.

1 Briefing related with the conditions of the project; preparation of the work program and calender; field study, investigation and initial research by design; getting information and criticisms from and discussions with related specialist during the formation and development of the design idea; submission of the final presentations that will have to be completed according to the work program and calendar .
