Course Objectives Rapid review of basic traffic engineering parameters. Explaining of capacity and level of service concept. Giving the basic understanding about Level of Service (LOS) analysis criteria for expressways, divided highways and two lane highways. Discussion on (LOS) and delay concepts of signalized intersections. Evaluation of accident analysis and safety concept.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Information on basic traffic engineering parameters.
  • Information about geometric design principles for traffic
  • Ability to analyze uninterrupted and interrupted traffic flows.
  • Ability to calculate and report level of service for expressway, divided and two way highway flow conditions
  • Information and knowhow transfer about accident analysis and road safety concept.
Course Content Speed, volume and density relationship, measuring methods of basic traffic stream variables, geometric design for traffic, capacity and level of service analysis of expressways, divided and two-lane highways, accident analysis.
