Course Objectives Enabling staff members to program and propose research topics for attaining and generating knowledge in fields of architecture through original investigations based on the competencies, methods and techniques relevant for research in the discipline of architecture (design driven research or architectural and research). Research topics programmed and proposed for the course will be reviewed and approved by the Department Council.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • The student who accomplishes this course: - Makes snalysis, assessment and criticism based on direct experience , - Experiences collaborative team-work with peers, - Acquires existing knowledge and field research techniques related with the subject, content and kind of research done, - Gains experience in production of new knowledge and its documentation.
Course Content Introduction of theories related with research techniques in architecture through readings, expositions and discussions; defining by students of a research subject related to architecture-design-planning, evaluating and interpreting information obtained through literature survey and field work (e.g., questionnaires, surveys) with scientific methods.

Weekly Subjects and Releated Preparation Studies

Week Subjects Preparation
1 Introduction and discussion of the research subject. Discussion of the aim and objectives of the research subject along with the defined research methods and techniques.
2 Literature survey related to the subject; in situ observation, interviews, questionnaires and surveys (group-team work)
3 Face-face or on-line meetings with those who have previously worked on and re well-versed with the chosen subject
4 Presentation of analysis done by team-work related with the knowledge and data obtained regarding different aspects of the subject
5 Development of written and visual documentation of the knowledge and results obtained through research
6 Academic assessment publicly done of the knowledge and results obtained through research
7 Preparation for final presentation utilizing the feed-backs of the assesment, and the final presentation
