Course Objectives To diagnose problems of musculoskeletal and neurological systems at the primary level and to plan their treatment. In line with the planned treatments; to gain knowledge, skills and attitudes in terms of rehabilitation.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Explains the normal structure and functions of musculoskeletal and neurological systems.
  • Explain the epidemiology of the common musculoskeletal and neurological system diseases. Explain the approaches to reduce the frequency of related diseases.
  • Evaluates the common musculoskeletal and neurological system diseases in the community by using radiological and pathological methods.
  • Diagnoses the common musculoskeletal diseases in the community, plans the treatment and explains the methods needed for the rehabilitation of these diseases.
  • Takes a detailed anamnesis for the musculoskeletal system and the neurological system.
  • Perform detailed physical examination of the musculoskeletal system and neurological system.
  • Knows the basic laboratory tests used in the diagnosis of musculoskeletal diseases and interprets diagnostic test results at primary level.
  • Explains the treatment to be given to the painful patient in detail and communicates effectively with the patient.
  • Explains the treatment of chronic patients in detail and communicates effectively with the patient.
  • Communicates effectively with the elderly patient and conveys detailed information to the patient about the treatment plan or lifestyle.
Course Content Arthritis and differential diagnosis; spondiloarthropathies and ankylosing spondylitis; rheumatoid arthritis; low back pain; fibromyalgia; myofascial pain; osteoarthritis; rehabilitation approach in spinal cord injury; joint pain and differential diagnosis; clinical anatomy of the spine; neck pain; lumbar pain and pathological approaches; pain types in the elder patients.
