Course Learning Outcomes |
The students who succeeded in this course;
-
Recalls the fundamental concepts of the anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system.
-
Explains the causes (genetic, developmental, environmental, autoimmune, neoplastic, etc.) and physiopathology of circulatory system disorders.
-
Learns the common symptoms and findings of the circulatory system disorders (chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, syncope, edema) and makes differential diagnosis.
-
Takes history of the patient presenting with circulatory system complaints using effective communicative skills and performs appropriate physical examination (inspection, basic auscultation, palpation and pulse evaluation, blood pressure measurement technique and evaluation, systemic examination).
-
Selects and sorts the tests used in the diagnosis and monitoring of diseases of the circulatory system (electrocardiography, exercise electrocardiography, myocardial perfusion scintigraphy report, chest radiography, echocardiography report, computed tomography, ankle-brachial index measurement, vascular doppler ultrasound report, conventional angiography reports, electrophysiological work, describes full blood, biochemical tests) in appropriate order and interprets the results.
-
Decides on the pre-diagnosis/diagnosis of circulatory system diseases by evaluating the physical examination with anamnesis and diagnostic tests.
-
Diagnoses arterial hypertension and hypertensive emergencies, applies preventive measures, performs emergency and basic treatments and follows-up at primary health care level.
-
Concludes the diagnosis of angina pectoris and myocardial infarction, applies preventive measures, performs emergency treatment and refers the patients to advanced health care unit appropriately.
-
Gets familiar with the interventional, surgical treatment methods and follow-up process of coronary artery disease.
-
Calculates cardiovascular risk, applies interpretations and methods of protection (main risk factors and prevention, recognizing metabolic syndrome and other new risk factors).
-
Pre-diagnoses heart valve diseases and congenital heart diseases applies preventive measures and refers the patients to advanced health care unit (diagnosis, treatment, for the acquired and isolated congenital problems of aortic, mitral, tricuspid, pulmonary valve physiopathology and follow-up).
-
Learns about the interventional, surgical therapies and follow-up processes of heart valve diseases and congenital circulatory system diseases.
-
Pre-diagnoses endocarditis, pericarditis, myocarditis/cardiomyopathies and refers the patients to advanced health care unit appropriately (symptoms, examination, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, prevention).
-
Learns and applies the prophylaxis of endocarditis.
-
Diagnoses the emergency clinical conditions of the patients with heart valve disease during follow up period, applies basic treatments and refers the patients to advanced health care unit appropriately
-
Learns about pericardial effusion, cardiac tamponade, constrictive pericarditis; drug therapy and interventional/surgical methods of these conditions.
-
Diagnoses heart failure, applies prevention measures, performs emergency treatment, knows proper referral procedures and performs the primary health care level follow-up (diagnosis, classification, treatment, tracking).
-
Learns about interventional (ICD etc.), surgical therapies (circulation support devices, heart transplant etc.) and follow-up processes in heart failure.
-
Diagnoses heart rhythm disorders, performs emergency treatment and refers the patients to advanced health care unit appropriately (classification, symptoms, examination, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up).
-
Learns about interventional, surgical therapies and follow-up processes of heart rhythm disorders.
-
Pre-diagnoses aortic aneurysm and aortic dissection conditions and refers the patients to advanced health care unit appropriately.
-
Learns about interventional, surgical treatments and follow-up processes of aortic aneurysm and dissection.
-
Diagnoses peripheral artery disease, takes preventive measures, applies basic treatment and appropriately refers the patients to advanced health care unit.
-
Learns about interventions in chronic and acute peripheral arterial diseases as well as their surgical treatments and follow-up processes.
-
Learns about carotid artery disease and mesenteric artery disease, learns the concept of diagnostic and interventional/surgical methods.
-
Pre-diagnoses chronic venous disease, vascular malformation and lymphoedema and refers the patients to advanced health care unit.
-
Learns about the interventional procedures of chronic venous disease, vascular malformation and lymphedema diseases, surgical treatments and follow-up processes.
-
Pre-diagnoses acute venous thrombosis, chronic venous thrombosis and pulmonary thrombo-embolism, regulates the basic treatment process, provides the patient's referral. Learns about medical and current interventional/surgical treatment methods.
