Course Objectives The aim of this course is; the basic principles, concepts, methods and applications of mental health and psychiatric nursing for the protection, development and improvement of mental health, based on the understanding of human and human behaviors of the learners, evaluating the healthy / mental health impaired individual, family and society in the light of developmental, biopsychosocial changes affecting mental health to learn through the nursing process.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Describe the concept of human and mental health, the dynamics that affect the mental health of a person, and the roles of the psychiatric nurse in the protection of mental health.
  • Discuss the concepts of mental health, illness and protection.
  • Evaluate healthy individuals and their families, the general clinics and the psychiatric clinic in a holistic view.
  • In order to preserve mental health, the nursing process can be applied on sample cases in the direction of the roles of the psychiatric nurse.
Course Content General principles in mental health, mental health and developmental periods,group principles and dynamics, anxiety disorders, somatoform disorders, dissociative disorders, psychotic disorders, eating disorders, sleeping disorders, personality disorders,mood disorders, emergency psychiatric conditions, psychiatric treatments, consultation liaison nursing, legal and ethical issues.
