Course Objectives This course aims to: -Teach the changes and transformation that are the milestones in Turkey’s westernisation history. -Shed light on the history of Turkey’s integration to the modern world. -Teach Turkey’s intellectual, social and political transformation in the modernisation era by relating it to the current course of things
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • By the end of the course, the students will be able to: -Understand Turkey’s westernization process, -Understand the impact of western intellectual movements on Turkish modernization, -Know the process of Turkey’s change from the Ottoman to the Republic against the background of the historical events, -Learn in detail the significant intellectual movements and political formations from the Ottoman to the Republic.
Course Content The westernization, modernization, social, intellectual and political development in Turkey from the 18th century onwards.
