Course Objectives | The scope of this course is designed in accordance with the familiarization of the students with the discipline of international relations, the adoption of an interdisciplinary approach by gaining knowledge about the European Union, which is studied under regional studies. In this course, the intellectual infrastructure in the establishment of the European Union, its history, relevant agreements, institutions, functioning, enlargements, the effect of Europeanization and briefly its relations with Turkey will be discussed. Understanding the primary and secondary legislation and the functioning of EU organs will be essential in defining the EU's sphere of influence. At the same time, by learning the sources of EU law, he will be able to make evaluations within the framework of the concept of sovereignty thanks to the knowledge he has acquired about the functioning of the Union. While learning about the institutions of the EU and their functioning, they will be able to better understand the representation of the member states and EU citizens in the Union and examine the steps taken by Turkey on the path to membership in a more concrete way. |
