Course Objectives The purpose of the course Graphical Design I is to teach graphical explanation language of a topic, an idea or an object in theory and practice by using graphical techniques and methods..
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Studies authentic and artificial objects.
  • Expresses though using POINTS AND LINES.
  • Masters and applies gradual change,
  • By using gradual change, identifies and designs another object like pictogram, emblem and logo
  • Masters and applies letter and stain relation.
Course Content The language of graphic narrative; graphic presentation techniques and visual materials; symbolic and conceptual graphic design work ( pictogram-corporate identity studies, etc.) in graphic design problem-solving techniques; approach to problem, research, analysis, synthesis phase, knowledge of composition; color information.

Weekly Subjects and Releated Preparation Studies

1 - Introduction to metamorphosis, class work on the subject - Selecting the artificial object to be transformed and starting the object study They bring pencils, erasers, sketchbooks.
2 - Completion of artificial object study, project critique - Defining and advancing the stages of metamorphosis Bringing the object to be studied, paper, pencils of appropriate hardness for the study.
3 - Completion of metamorphosis stages, project critique, color study of natural object - Introduction to the pictogram based on the result Bringing the object to be studied, paper, pencils of appropriate hardness for the study.
4 Continuation of the pictogram study and selection of sketches - Completion of the pictogram work, introduction to the definition of a new composition through the artificial object used (linear - black and white - quantity analysis - simple colors - contrast) Bringing the object to be studied, paper, pencils of appropriate hardness for the study.
5 - Critique of 16 research samples for linear composition - Beginning black and white research of the selected composition Bringing the object to be studied, paper, pencils of appropriate hardness for the study.
6 - Critique of 16 research examples for black and white composition - Finishing a black and white composition Bringing gouache paint, brush, palette, water container, sketch paper and pencils.
7 - Midterm Exam (Jury) - Getting started with quantity analysis research Bringing gouache paint, brush, palette, water container, sketch paper and pencils.
8 - Continued quantitative analysis research Bringing gouache paint, brush, palette, water container, sketch paper and pencils.
9 - Completion of quantity analysis study Bringing gouache paint, brush, palette, water container, sketch paper and pencils.
10 - Introduction to pure color contrast research - Critique of 16 research samples Bringing gouache paint, brush, palette, water container, sketch paper and pencils.
11 - Completion of a simple color contrast study Bringing gouache paint, brush, palette, water container, sketch paper and pencils.
12 - Introduction to light dark color contrast research - Critique of 16 research samples Bringing gouache paint, brush, palette, water container, sketch paper and pencils.
13 Completion of light dark color contrast study Bringing gouache paint, brush, palette, water container, sketch paper and pencils.
14 - Final exam preparation and revisions Bringing gouache paint, brush, palette, water container, sketch paper and pencils.
15 - Final exam preparation, pre-exam critiques and revisions Bringing gouache paint, brush, palette, water container, sketch paper and pencils.
16 Final Exam File preparation of the work up to the sixteenth week.
