Course Objectives The aim of this course is to examine how scientific and technological studies are connected to each other and how economic growth and development are realized as a result of these studies.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • The student should be able to describe the role of science, technology and innovation in economic growth
  • The student should be able to relate institutions in an economy as they relate to science, technology and innovation
  • The student should be able to describe the public support mechanisms in order to promote research and innovation based economic growth
  • The student should be able to describe the different mechanisms of technology transfer and appropriation
Course Content The relation between economic development and science, technology and innovation policies; demand and supply approaches; the science, technology and innovation organizations at national level; public support mechanisms, technology transfer options and direct investment channels; the cases of Turkey and Chili.
