Course Objectives The aim of the course is to give information on the concept of history of culture, to describe the place and importance of civilizations in the evolution of humanity, to help to understand that cultural background is a tool to create the new, to compare the technology, trade, science, religion and art and craft activities of related civilizations in a neighboring geography.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Understands the philosophy/ essence of culture while tracing its evolution
  • Learns to observe the development of related civilizations through their daily life on the focus of Anatolia.
  • Understands that culture is the result of common heritage of humanity
  • Graps the idea that culture evolves in a sequence of cause and result.
  • Achieves the consciousness that reaching the new in design occurs through learning the past. Understands the value and the reasons/ necessity of the conservation of the cultural assets.
Course Content The description of architectural styles, art, technology through the necessities of daily life like the scripts, equipment, costumes, transfer means etc. of the past cultures in chronological order, taking into account the political and religious history related to the social and economic structures.
