Course Objectives To help students to comprehend the important role of color in the product design process, to transfer basic infrastructural knowledge which will help students to develop their point of view, while doing this; emphasizing color-light-form-space relationship and make them get familiar with the terminology of this discipline. Through trial and error, to make students integrate color phenomenon to their personal development process.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Becomes competent in using color consciously and solely to create a design language on the form
  • Considers color phenomenon and color knowledge beginning from the initial phases of the design process.
  • Becomes able to reflect psychological effects of the colors on product design
  • Acquires theoretical knowledge about color perception
  • Becomes able to use international color terminology.
Course Content Basic color knowledge, natural facts related to color, color-light relationship, compositional characteristics of color, the effects it creates, visual, aesthetic, psychological and perceptual characteristics of color, perception of color with five senses, trends in color, color perception and effects in space, color and culture interaction.
