Course Objectives | The aim of this course is to provide information to graduate students about the emergence and development of political thought and political ideologies. In addition, the main objective of the course is to convey the relationship between contemporary political thought and political ideologies to graduate students from different academic backgrounds. This course provides basic information about different political ideologies and is an introduction to contemporary political theories. The theorists studied in the course are theorists who have dealt with certain concepts such as freedom, equality, power, violence, revolution, transformation, democracy and civil society that have taken place in today's world. In this course, students are encouraged to understand the connections between the political, social and psychological worlds. At the end of the course, students will become acquainted with the impact of political thought produced before the 20th century on the development of contemporary political thought. They realize that the political thought produced in the past is the source of the political ideologies that emerged in the 20th century. Thus, students realize that historical continuity is essential in the social and human sciences. They come to a level where they can analyze the differences between the political ideologies in question. |
