ECTS - - English Translation and Interpretation

The Department has been founded in 2001 with the mission to seek to raise professionals who are knowledgeable, eager to research and learn,multicultural, interested in current issues and cultural relations, aware of the expectations and conditions of the market, and who could utilize their knowledge and experience in translation and interpretation through scientific methods with the aid of cutting-edge technology. The pecularities differentiating the current programme from similar programmes are its strong academic personnel and the laboratory facilities. Our department offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The medium of language is English and Turkish. Our students can also make use of the Department’s state-of-art simultaneous interpreting laboratory which easily accomodates 35 students. The laboratory covers more than 100 square meters of area and it has 25 audio units for students, as well as five fully equipped simultaneous interpretation cabins. Each of the closed booths has a capacity of two students and contains an LCD monitor which facilitates sight / consecutive and simultaneous interpretation practice. The students can record audio output of their performances for self-evaluation purposes. The laboratory is also provided with a laptop computer, a video projector and internet connection so that the students can watch and interpret streaming videos over the Internet whenever required.
