Course Objectives | This course aims to introduce basic interpreting skills from English to Turkish and vice versa to students. Students learn basic consecutive and simultaneous interpreting strategies. Consecutive and on-sight interpreting of short speeches from both languages is the main activity of the course. Students are introduced to various subjects through the use of several materials, such as bilingual speeches taken from various magazines, excerpts from meetings obtained on internet, proceedings from international conferences. In this way, students learn to listen actively in order to relay the message of the speech; hence they have the opportunity to improve their interpreting skills. |
