Course Objectives | Editing translated texts for various uses requires special effort and preparation. The traditional editor, whose approach to the problems of translated texts is limited by the knowledge of just one language, is not adequate in an ever-globalizing world. Translation editing requires a deeper understanding of both source and target language systems, a throughout awareness of problems peculiar to the translation process, and the experience that will enable an editor to overcome such problems. Since translation editing and copy-editing requires specialization, this course delves on the current condition of publishing, copy-editing translations, proofreading, and also legal issues of publishing, along with the study of Turkish language in detail. The students are expected to read, edit and revise a great variety of texts during the course. The course is carried out in English and Turkish. |
