Principles and Procedures
ATILIM UNIVERSITY CONTEST FOR STUDENT RESEARCH PROJECTS ON THE THEME FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR
1. Purpose and Scope
To be organized in accordance with the Atılım University mission of production of scientific information within the understanding of social sensitivity and sustainability, and the Atılım University policy of research-oriented education, the “Atılım University Contests for Student Research Projects on the Theme for the Academic Year” aims students (of associate, undergraduate, and graduate degree programs) to undertake research projects within the scope of the theme determined for the academic year by the Atılım University Senate, as well as to help students put their theoretical knowledge into practice, to encourage critical thinking, to develop interdisciplinary perspectives, and to provide them with problem-solving skills.
2. Main Application Acceptance Criteria
While it is only natural for students to receive support from their advisors, or other individuals and organizations during the implementation of their projects; student projects are required to be planned and implemented mainly by students who are in the relevant project team. The application criteria for students are as follows:
- The project of application must be directly related to the theme determined for the academic year by the Atılım University Senate.
- Applications may be made individually or as teams. Teams are to consist of 2 to 5 people. In case of team members leaving their teams, teams may continue as long as they meet the minimum of 2 members.
- The applicant and all team members must be associate, undergraduate, and graduate degree students of Atılım University.
- In the case of team applications, if members leave their team during the contest, a written application must be submitted to the Directorate of ARGEDA-TTO Directorate, and a petition signed by all team members must be submitted.
- When an application is the case, the project idea of application must not be incorporated for commercial profit through the product or service it covers.
- Each applicant or team may only apply with one project.
Contest applications not meeting the criteria above will be annulled upon detection.
3. Application and Preliminary Evaluation Process
- Applicants and team members, if any, are required to complete the “Application Form for Atılım University Contest for Student Research Projects on the Theme for the Academic Year” on the web page for the Directorate of ARGEDA-TTO online within the specified competition application dates and submit it to Directorate both signed in ink, and via e-mail.
Application Forms are to include details on these topics:

- Information on the applicant and team members, if any
- Information on the project (Project title, compliance with the theme, originality, usability of project outputs)
- The decision that the application meets the main criteria for acceptance is made by the Directorate of ARGEDA-TTO.
- A preliminary evaluation is made by the Directorate of ARGEDA-TTO, and applications that pass the preliminary evaluation are eligible to continue into the contest.
- Applicants or teams accepted to the competition will be required to sign a confidentiality and non-disclosure contract stating that all information, documents and all kinds of data made available for use and access within the scope of their business idea, regardless of whether it is verbal or written, are to be considered confidential information.
- In applications for projects within the scope of the LAP or ATAK projects of Atılım University, written approvals are to be obtained from the LAP project executive (ATAK advisor) as well as the team members who are entitled to the project proposal, to be submitted to the Directorate of ARGEDA-TTO along with the project application.
4. Evaluation
- The Evaluation Board consists of five to seven members, including academicians/ industry representatives who have studies within the scope of the relevant theme.
- Evaluation Board members evaluate students or teams that pass the preliminary evaluation.
- Teams present their projects to Evaluation Board members and answer their questions.
- Each presentation is evaluated by Evaluation Board members in terms of “originality”, “usability/ applicability of project outputs” and “project execution”. The impacts of “originality”, “usability/ applicability of project outputs”, and “project execution” are respectively, 40%, 40%, and 20%.
- The projects that rank in the top 3 as a result of the evaluation win awards.
6. Awards
The content of the awards for the “Atılım University Contest for Student Research Projects on the Theme for the Academic Year” is determined by the recommendation of the Presidency, and the approval of the Board of Trustees, and announced along with the contest.

First Prize: 20000 TL
Second Prize: 15000 TL
Third Prize: 10000 TL
7. Calendar
The calendar for the “Atılım University Contest for Student Research Projects on the Theme for the Academic Year” is determined at the beginning of each academic year and announced along with the contest.
