ATU200/ATU400 Participation in a Research Project

Practice Details for the ATU 200/ 400 Research Project Participation Course

The following items are the basic principles regarding the implementation of the Research Project Participation course, designed to have associate /undergraduate degree program students take part in R&D projects supported by Atılım University and/ or public institutions and organizations (TÜBİTAK, TÜSEB, etc.) where Atılım University is the executive organization, for these students to gain experience in the processes related to the implementation of R&D projects.

  1. The course is to be added to the curricula of all associate and undergraduate degree programs, as an elective course.
  2. This course is to be available only to students who have taken part in projects supported by the support programs Atılım University Undergraduate Research Projects (LAP), and Researcher Career for Atılım University Students (ATAK), or R&D projects supported by institutions and organizations such as TÜBİTAK and TÜSEB, as of the Academic Year of 2024-2025.
  3. Students who work as executives, researchers or scholars in the relevant project team will not be able to take this course.
  4. Students may take the course only once.
  5. A separate section will be opened for each Atılım University faculty member taking on the role of project executive (for LAP) or project advisor (for ATAK and other projects) in relevant projects, and the evaluation and grading of the course will be done by the faculty member of the relevant section. For multiple Atılım University members taking on the roles of executive/ advisor in a single project (co-executives etc.), the course will be assigned only to the primary executive/ advisor.
  6. This course will be included in the semester course load of the faculty members assigned to it.
  7. If project executives (for LAP) and advisors (for ATAK and other projects) are Research Assistants and permanent administrative members with researcher status, the course will be assigned to the head of the relevant department, and the evaluation will be undertaken in a coordinated manner with the relevant Research Assistant/ Researcher. In this case, the course is not included in the course load of the Head of Department.
  8. If a student participating in the project is unable to take the course during the project period, it may be possible for them to take it in the semesters that follow. In this case, the grading for the relevant student is to be undertaken within the scope of the evaluations of their work in the semester when the project was carried out.
  9. For a project of the same content, even if the course is reopened in the future periods for students unable to have taken it in the relevant semester, the assigned faculty member will only have it in their course loads for a single semester.
  10. In the evaluation of the course, the basic evaluation criterion is that the students in the project team “fulfill their duties and responsibilities within relevant project work packages”, and the information about the reports to be prepared and the presentation to be made within the scope of the course are specified in detail in the course information form.
