Rackets Said The Word This Time

Friendly tennis tournament was organized for the first time at our university on 18 December 2016. Ambassadors successfully serving in Turkey and their spouses, businessmen and tennis lovers took the rackets at Atilim University. In the tournament, participants had enjoyable times with the competitive matches among 16 couples. It was a proud for us to host a tennis organization, which is important for foreign missions, at the courts of Atilim University. The tournament was organized by Ipek Tekdemir, our Career Planning Coordinator and she sweated both over the organization and the competition.

Luxembourg Ambassador to Ankara, Georges Faber and his spouse Barbara Faber competed against Rachel Wignall and Tim Wignal from the British Embassy in the opening match. Former Davis Cup player, Georger Faber stated that he was very glad to be a guest in such a nice organization. Head Clerk of Russian Embassy Natig Guliev and Undersecretary Igor Burmistrou and his spouse also participated in the highly competitive tournament. In addition, Ralph Kindl and Manfred Gröller from Austrian Embassy, Och Tulga from Mongolian Embassy, Elsa Jouanolou from French Embassy, daughter of Indian Military Attaché Praanya Slathia and son of Internal Affairs Attaché of Romanian Embassy Berkant Sali also took part in the tournament.

Cofounder of Çınar&Çınar Law Office, Hakan Çınar and his spouse Emir Çınar providing service in the field of International Law graced us with their participation. Our Sports Coordinator Semih Gokalp awarded the competing couples with a participation certificate and emphasized the importance and connective side of sport.

Serving at Russian Embassy, Head Clerk Natig Guliev and his partner Deniz Yildiz came in first in the final match after winning four consecutive matches. We congratulate them. Mr. Guliev said that they not only played tennis but also met new people and enjoyed a wonderful Sunday and extended his thanks to Atilim University, particularly. The winning couple were granted with an accommodation present under the sponsorship of Mövenpick Hotel Istanbul and they stated that they always want to take part in such beautiful organizations at our University.
